Check the list of milestones on several autism web sites to see if he may have signs of autism. If so, get him checked out by a specialist asap as the earlier treatment begins, the better the outcome.

That being said, work like crazy on making contact and entering your son's world on his level. Your post was terminated, so I'm not sure what you were going to say. If you are saying that he will look when you clap, then you clap and call at the same time. Decrease the sound of your clap and increase the sound of your call might guide him into responding when you call. The autism training that I've seen uses a reward system, so he would get a cheerio or later an M%26amp;M for his compliance. My 7 month old babyboy does not make eye contact does not look up when called.however will look when clapped a
Have his hearing tested. That is the most obvious at this point.
my advice would be to have your pediatrician/family doctor check your son's hearing .. he might not be hearing your voice when you call him .. but since a clap is a sharper sound, it may be more audible to him so it appears that he can hear some tones

Hope it all works out well for you :)
keep an eye on him. not making eye contact is a sign of autism. don't panic! there are many signs to look for. look at autismspeaks.org for more information. but, if he does have autism, be sure to obtain early intervention. it makes all the difference in the world.
